Life Size Sculptures

Shoeless Joe Jackson

Greenville, South Carolina’s own Shoeless Joe Jackson is remembered through this bronze sculpture. Dedicated in 2002, it first stood at the intersection of Main Street and River Street. In 2018, the sculpture was moved to the entrance of Fluor Field.

Della Gillette

To honor 100 years of education, the Phi Beta Pi society commissioned this work for Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Della Gillette represents one of the young women who went to teach in the hills of Tennessee.

Water Blessing

Unveiled in Greenville, SC (May, 2017) this sculpture stands ten feet tall from head to toe. Water spills out of the bowl as the Cherokee offers “thanks the Creator for the water that gives life.”

The Patriot

J. L. Mann Academy commissioned this bronze of their mascot, unveiled January 3, 2008. This slightly larger than life sculpture is located inside their school building.

Do As I Have Done

In June 2022, Miracle Hill Ministries contacted Doug Young to create a life-size bronze sculpture based on the biblical account of Jesus washing Peter’s feet. The sculpture was commissioned as part of a beautification project for the Greenville Rescue Mission.

Gethsemane

This bronze of Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane was commissioned for North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina. The unveiling ceremony was held on April 8, 2004

Nativity

Commissioned in 2011, this larger-than-life work stands at the entrance to Bob Jones University from Thanksgiving through the end of December. Created by carving huge blocks of dense polystyrene, the sculptures are coated in glue and several layers of house paint.

Perrin's Park

Perrin's Park was dedicated on June 7, 2014. The bronze sculpture of Perrin playing with a train, focuses on the joy that he experienced in this brief 14 months.

Tom's Hat

Local landscape architect, Tom Keith, was lead designer for Cancer Survivors Park. In his memory, this bronze represents objects used in his daily work. They include architectural drawings, his notepad and pencil, as well as his Tilly hat.

Leap of Faith

The "Leap of Faith" sculpture was installed December 28, 2021 in the Cancer Survivors Park. The bas-relief was created in cooperation with The City of Greenville and the Cancer Survivors Park Alliance. Funding was made possible through a donation from the family of Lindsey Bates Motley who passed away from cancer in 2016.
