Art Classes
Get on the list
Plans are being made for fall
classes with age levels ranging from high school students to
adults. Private lessons are also available for your convenience.
Fall Classes
Larger classroom at
12A Lois Ave., Greenville, South Carolina.
Sculpting the Human Head (Beginners
– Adults/Teens)
Learn the proportions of the
human head while you sculpt from a photo of a friend or family member.
Or, if you choose, you can do a self portrait. Since we'll use non-hardening
clay, there is no worry that your work will dry and crack. Materials will
be provided for use in class. (Dates: Mondays, September 15 –
October 6; Time: 6:30-9:30 P.M.; Fee: $175) Four classes (three hours
each) You must email by September 3 to register.
Figure Drawing Workshop (Adults)
Trying to capture a likeness
of someone is a life-long study. We'll begin our study by looking at basic
human anatomy. Most of the time will be spent drawing from live models.
Bring a large sketch pad (11 x 14 larger) and drawing pencils to the first
class and you’ll be ready to begin. Fee includes payment for the
models. (Dates: Tuesdays, September 16 – October 21; Time: 6:30-8:30
P.M.; Fee: $125) Six classes (two hours each) You must
email by September 9 to register.
Beginner's Drawing (Adults/Teens)
Draw for the fun of it. We'll
study the basics to help you capture what you see so that you can express
yourself artistically. We'll start with perspective, shading and simple
composition. We'll explore still life and perhaps touch on figure drawing.
You'll need a large newsprint sketch pad (11x14 or larger), drawing pencils,
and charcoal pencils or charcoal sticks. (Dates: Thursdays, September
18 - October 9; Time: 6:30-8:30 PM; Fee: $85) Four classes (two hours
each) You must email by September 11 to register.
To register for
classes, and get put on the list,
simply include the class you'd like to take (sculpting, figure drawing,
or still life drawing), the age level (high school or adult) and the time
of day that will work best for you. Payment will be taken on the first
day of class.
Models Needed
No experience necessary
Models are needed for Doug's studio classes or
as models for some of his sculptures. You must be able to hold a pose
for about 15 minutes. Students taking the drawing class are serious about
perfecting their work. If you're interested, please contact
Doug for more information.
